Bill Flanagan is executive vice president of MTV Networks. His new novel New Bedlam skewers the cable TV business. Flanagan is also the author of A&R (another funny book) about the music industry.

Then, David Bianculli reviews two first-season DVD sets for Friday Night Live and Heroes. Both boxes are released today.

Finally, Teddy Thompson, who covers some classic country songs on his third album, Up Front & Down Low. They include "She Thinks I Still Care", "(My Friends Are Gonna Be) Strangers", and "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone". He performed his own songs on his previous albums, Teddy Thompson and Separate Ways. Thompson is the son of British folk-rock duo Richard and Linda Thompson. [Broadcast Date: August 28, 2007]
