Listen to filmmakers John Alpert and Matthew O'Neill, and film critic David Edelstein on this edition of Fresh Air.

John Alpert's and Matthew O'Neill's new documentary, Baghdad ER, is a recipient of this year's coveted Peabody award and is out on DVD. The film looks inside the 86th combat support hospital, the Army's premier medical facility in Iraq. Shot over two months in 2005, the film, which debuted on HBO, tells the stories of the hospital's doctors and wounded soldiers. Alpert also directed the HBO documentary One Year in a Life of Crime. He's a 12-time Emmy winner.

Then, David Edelstein reviews Black Book, the new thriller by Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven, set during the Nazi occupation of the Netherlands. [Broadcast Date: April 13, 2007]
