I love this novella. It has a different path than the usual science fiction I have read. My only qualms are that this world she has created some 400 years hence will still have Twitter, Facebook and Google and is bringing the whole story down. She could have made up some really neat communication that she would reference that was highly superior to the dinosaurs of social media of turn of century. Otherwise, a great writer.
I could see this written as a novel or potential series if well thought out

Unique Novella

After listening to “After Death” (fantastic!), I immediately purchased “From Death”. I was disappointed in just how differently the story played out. Technically, the description does not mention the previous novella; however, at the end of “After Death”, a preview of “From Death” was read. The narrative insinuated this was a continuation of the original story. The narrator was changed which threw me off immediately. The narration was good; but I literally went from one novella to the second without a break. It was hard for me to adjust to a different voice so fast. Had I not listened to “After Death” first, I probably would’ve enjoyed “From Death” much more. I had already formed an expectation of what I wanted to hear and was disappointed that it was so different.

I would suggest listening to “From Death” as a stand alone or, at the very least, give it some time between the two. Meredith Tucker is a great author and I really enjoy her writing style. Her blend of humor and sci-fi is excellent.

I was expecting From Death to be a continuation of After Death
