Four months after the Battle of Tromsund, the Alekkan landscape looks very different.

Reinar has taken his people to Slussfall, where winter’s grip remains strong. There is no sign of Ulfinnur, God of Winter, and he fears that Alari has captured him, intending to keep the sea permanently frozen. For if the sea remains frozen, no ships can sail to Oss, seeking the help of the Islanders. Without the Islanders, Reinar can’t risk leaving the security of Slussfall’s walls to fight an enemy that outnumbers him two to one.

In Stornas, Hector is the king, victorious in his defeat of Ake Bluefinn, though with winter raging and the comforts of his castle proving so tempting, he is hesitant to take the fight to the Vilanders. His ever-loyal ally, Gudrum, has grown frustrated, sensing that Hector is in danger of losing the impetus in the fight to conquer all of Alekka. He urges action, wanting the King’s dreamer, Gysa, to support him. Though Gysa has her own plans. Plans that not even Alari, Goddess of Dreamers, knows about.

Plans that will soon upend everything...

I strongly recommend anyone starting this series start with the Furyk Series first. I have a new author to follow. I was on the edge of my seat most of this book! I can't recommend both series enough. Magic, sword fights, strange creatures, and for the first time, we got to see and understand what is happening with the God's.
I can believe Audible did not pick up book 6. guess I'll have to use that darn voice to speech...

# 6 is on Kindle? WTH!

I’ve just finished this series, and it’s a masterpiece. Chefs Kiss! The world building, the intertwining stories of love, betrayal, war, intrigue…family. This series is SO masterfully done. The last book I cried while reading was Kingdom of Ash, and now this series. I don’t cry often while reading, but this series got me. I didn’t read the Furyk series, I need to, but I didn’t feel lost as to what was going on with those characters in this series.

The narrator is phenomenal! EXCEPTIONAL!! There are so many Characters and I sometimes forgot that every character was ONE person!

I read and listen to so many books and don’t always leave a review. I HAD to, HAD to leave a review. READ THIS SERIES. A.E. Rayne, thank you for this gift to readers.

Masterpiece. Truly Exceptional
