"A heroic and beautiful book." -- Cleveland Plain Dealer.

"This is the story of a great heroine who knows the meaning of a struggle and never loses her pride or dignity. Indeed, her story makes me proud of the human race." -- John Oliver Killens

It’s amazing the things that this author lived through. It’s almost unbelievable. I think the story would’ve stood out more with a narrator capable of doing a variety of voices, especially one who can toggle effortlessly between different genders and ages.

Great story – not sure the narration kept up

After listening to “I know why the caged bird sings” narrated by the rich voice of the author, I wasn’t sure about an actor’s narration in this audio book but Uzo Aduba does a fantastic job. One of the best autobiographical audio books I have listened to. Truly stellar all around.

Vibrant honest storytelling. Great narration.
