THE STORY

In the hope of taming the Great Rift that divides the galaxy in two, Archmagos Belisarius Cawl invites representatives from across the Imperium to the artificial world of Pontus Avernes. Confident he can convince them of his genius, he must secure their assistance in unlocking the secrets of the pylon network – significant structures built by an ancient race that he believes can stave off the pull of the warp. But among the attendees is an uninvited guest: Fabius Bile himself.

The Pater Mutatis needs no validation of his genius and has his own agendas, the pursuit of which will bring about an epic confrontation of the galaxy’s greatest scientific minds – and from which only one can emerge victorious.

After waiting a long while for a new Cawl book this doesn't disappoint, And Bile what more do you want in a book

Excellent Tale of Two Mad Scientists

Fantastic insight into what makes Cawl and Bile such standout characters. The book is full of interesting perspectives and approaches to quest for knowledge and especially Cawl’s musings and monologues are a joy to listen to. Highly recommended!

40K’s two most eccentric characters

Cawl and Bile are just total max scientist megalomaniacs and I’m here for it 100%.

Cool things happen but the premise is overshadowed

A lot of neat lore is given in this story and the voice acting is really good as usual! However, what was promised in the synopsis of the book isn't really delivered on until like the last 20% and even the pylon stuff takes a sudden backseat.
