Sometimes the darkest secrets are just beneath the surface.

Two missing girls. One lake. Twenty years apart.

Katie Benard reluctantly returns home to Grady Lake two decades after her older sister Malorie disappeared without a trace, a story that has captivated the nation since the day she was reported missing in 2003. After leaving home years ago, Katie is overjoyed to reunite with her childhood best friend and cousin while working at her family's lakeside resort at the end of tourist season in northern Michigan. Just when life begins to feel normal again, a teenage girl goes missing from the resort. She has vanished without a trace, just like Malorie.

The area hasn't seen a major crime in decades, leading everyone to believe the disappearances must be connected. Which scenario is more terrifying: the theory that there are two monsters lurking in the small lakeside town, or the possibility that the same maniac has waited twenty years before striking again?

This captivating thriller from the bestselling author of Delta County will have you at the edge of your seat.

I absolutely loved this book. All the plot twists kept me guessing, and I couldn’t wait to hear more. Raven Rollins did a fantastic job as the narrator. She may be an Okie, but I loved the way she would use a Michigan accent throughout the book, for the characters.

The story of Grady Lake takes you on a roller coaster ride of missing girls and who dunnits. It is exciting from the first page to the last. The author shows complete control of the story with a load of mystery and intrigue and a bit of comedic relief, which is well thought out. The narrator for this story is perfect as she tells the story, from a sister's perspective, with such emotion that sometimes I felt as if she were talking straight to me. Such an enjoyable listen and loved this book thoroughly.

Exciting all the way through

I have become an avid Hyde reader after stumbling onto Delta County a couple years ago. Her storylines and plot-pacing get more refined and better each time she releases a book. I was nervous about the new narrator at first, but once my brain got used to her, I loved how well she fit with the characters. Will definitely listen to books 2 and 3.

Another win by J.L. Hyde
