In doing so, she discovers something much deeper than just unrest; powerful people seek to remove all humans from the northern kingdoms, for the supposed crimes they are committing against the Berrat.
As a reward for her recent successes, an elderly priest gifts Kit a sentient dragon-bone cane and information on the location of an ancient library. Why didn’t he mention that there were people who would stop at nothing to prevent her from uncovering the secrets it holds?
