One serious accident two years ago left Amalie Lincoln with scars deeper than the ones on her skin. Now, in need of a fresh start, she moves to Jubilee, Kentucky, to set up her own office as a CPA with the help of IT technician Sean Pope. Sean and Amalie haven’t seen each other since they were children, but their connection is magnetic, even when they don’t recognize each other at first.

But when a series of exploding helicopters crashes into the mountain town and threatens the livelihood of its residents and the children at a local school, Sean knows there’s something more sinister being orchestrated—something he’ll have to stop, or else risk losing the love he and Amalie have rediscovered.

Possible Spoilers:
It’s a classic formula Sala book - Amalie Lincoln was found abandoned in an Arkansas alley at 6 days old and grew up in foster care, which was mostly very dismal. She grew up to earn a college degree and CPA certification. Amalie also survived a dangerous car wreck with severe injuries and burns. When jobs dry up in Tulsa, she decides to relocate to Jubilee, Kentucky, where she feels a profound connection.
Sean Pope has built his IT business since his family moved to Jubilee and is hired by the new CPA to set up her office. It isn’t long before they figure out they met in 3rd grade when Sean defended Amalie. Meanwhile, they’re interrupted by a helicopter exploding, then damaging the school building and injuring the youngest students. Aaron & Sean are there to help Dani evacuate the last students. And Sean helps rescue a mother and child from a car wreck. And this shiny knight further protects her from an assassin’s bullet. It’s true love.
Add in finding her father through online DNA testing; him being wealthy and the target of murder for hire; Amalia being targeted; and an old conspiracy to hide her birth from her father and it’s sad enough. Happy times are those Amalie gets to enjoy with the Pope family. Did I mention she has some prescient moments like Aunt Ella ever since her near-death accident? Yeah, some not quite believable and some over-the-top emotions and dialogue, but it’s entertaining enough to compensate.
We get the Sala ‘Wages of Sin’ moments with both Fiona and Ruiz.
Odom does a decent job of narration as she disappears into the story.

I loved the way the two were reunited. I am a sucker for love story such as this. I was a bit disappointed that the 13 folks were not revealed. I am sure that the attorney was one of the 13. Over all I rate this as a keeper.
