This laugh-out-loud romantic comedy sizzles with chemistry and the magic of a Mardi Gras backdrop in an adorable opposites attract story from USA Today bestseller Melanie Jacobson!

Sparks fly when LA glitz meets New Orleans grit . . .

When Anneke flits into town between high fashion shoots to help her best friend open his new jazz club, the last thing she's looking for is a reason to stay. She'll explore the city, make her appearances, and then she's off to the next adventure. Until she realizes that her massive online crush is the proprietor of a dusty old record shop in town . . .

At twenty-nine, Jonah has already been there, done that, and he's over it. Fame and fortune? Ha. Keep it. He's had a front row seat his whole life to the way it changes people. Not even the flirty supermodel he keeps crossing paths with can change his mind . . .

Until Jonah discovers that Anneke is the woman he's been half in love with for months already. But . . . she's everything he's never wanted. Isn't she?

This one is so boring compared to Book One. The male narrator's voice is nasally. It has its moments, but there's very little to the plot. The main characters are too hot and cold, and it just gets annoying. It dragged on too long.

Not great

Loved the love story, the chemistry, the history of the setting, and the music! Another great one from Melanie Jacobson!

Both the narrator of the MMC, and the MMC were unlikeable.
There are a lot of good things about this author’s writing. I enjoy the slow burn, there are moments of humour and intimacy that feel warm and true, and I really like the conscious choice to write with some feminist ideals. However I’m not sure about her MMCs. I wasn’t a huge fan of the MMC in book 1. I felt like the act 3 betrayal in that book was too awful. But I figured it may just be a me thing so I decided to try the second book. In this one Jonah is such a snob, and so lacking in curiosity about the world or other people that I found him a bore. And then there is the NARRATOR. FFS. Do the people who cast audiobooks even listen to audiobooks? This professional would be perfect for calling a fast paced football game on radio or something. Not as a romantic lead. Never as a romantic lead. He had no softness or nuance. No humour or humility. The bad narration made the largely unlikeable MMC even less tolerable.
I didn’t hate this book. There is enough talent in this author that I wanted to continue to the end. However I’m not sure I can recommend it. I didn’t get any lovely feelings from the HEA. It was kind of like when your best friend falls in love with a jerk. You resign yourself to smile and hug her and hope for the best, while also kind of hoping she’ll break up with him soon so she can find someone better….

Male narrator was not good

The way this story dragged out it was painful. It didn’t do justice to NOLA, the aged angst was nuts. These were supposed to be grown ups.

I can’t believe this was the pick for the male narrator. I can’t imagine any girl, not to mention a supermodel would be attracted to a voice like that. It was terrible and pretty much ruined the story. Jorjeana did a great job on Anneka and her version of Jonah was good, wish she could have been the sole narrator.
Otherwise, the story was just kind of so so, not as good as the first book. I skipped over a good bit at the end because it got pretty boring.

Terrible male narrator
