USA Today bestselling author Julia London begins her acclaimed Lockhart series in this stunning novel of a love that knows no bounds.

On leave from his Highland regiment, Captain Liam Lockhart comes to London on an urgent mission: to repossess the stolen family heirloom that could save his ancestral estate. He never dreamed it would involve surrendering his heart, but the beautiful and scandalous socialite Ellen Farnsworth sets his Highland blood aflame with a will as strong and reckless as his own. Though bound to Liam by a soul-searing passion, duty impels Ellen to commit a terrible betrayal.

Now, driven by passion, pride, and vengeance, this fearsome Highlander will reclaim not only his family's ancient treasure, but the one daring woman he was meant to love for all time.

Contains mature themes.

Quite a long but very touching story. Lots of humor, passion and interesting twists. Thanks to the author and the wonderful narrator!

Heartwarming story

It’s a nice story at the start. But then the female character gets more and more awful 😞. All the way to the end of the book she was just conniving and selfish, she steals, and kept leaving people who were nice to her in the night ungratefully. The end is unrealistic and I don’t know any one man who would have just let it slid the way the author wants the reader to believe. The HEA is forced in this book in the last couple of sentences. That made the couple turn out to be the toxic romance kind of relationship. And what happens to the rest of the people in the book affected by her shenanigans as the couple walks happily to the sunset?
I won’t waste my time with book 2. I know it had more unrealistic HEA if the other brother will be off to find the stupid artifact 😏

Ugh, awful female character

It started out good, but took a turn for the worst in the last third of the book. The female main character (fmc) has got to be the most selfish one I’ve encountered in a very long time and I have read close to 2k books. She just made one bad decision after another and no consequences. She seriously believed in the poor decisions that she made and felt that she was justified. Smh. The story had so much promise in the beginning. I won’t read anything else from this author because this book frustrated me so much. It felt like an entitled millennial was writing it.

Selfish female main character!!

At first it is a funny, romantic tale. But half way it takes an awful turn. I found it despicable, the FMC is/ was despicable. Since she never pays for her sins and is completely forgiven I could not recommend the tale. she is truly, truly truly the worse sort of person. of she were real, I would spit on her!

sorry because the narration is incredibly good!
