Embracing the Light and Dark Sides of Divine Consciousness
Life's great challenge, Marion Woodman says on Holding the Tension of the Opposites, is in developing an integration between the spirit and the body. From this integration there arises a divine "tension," allowing for a new consciousness to unfold.

Why is this integration so difficult? On Holding the Tension of the Opposites, Woodman shows how the Western religious traditions have split spirit from matter at the expense of what Jung described as our “shadow” side. How this shadow side is historically connected to goddess worship (the Latin word for "mother" is mater, the root word for "matter") is just one of the insights that Woodman offers on this unique, live presentation.

"Night is as precious as day," she says. By uniting both sides of the unconscious, we attune to those around us, and to the energy within the earth itself.

Topics include:
• A fresh examination of the Garden of Eden myth
• Why addicts yearn to transcend this earth
• The crucifix as a symbol for holding the tension between light and dark
• The dream archetype of the wolf
• The Black Madonna as the manifestation of God in Matter

Recorded in the seminar format it was given in, this is a very powerful talk. I'm only just beginning to explore Marion Woodman and in the last year, I have come back to all of her talks/books several times. Each listen has a gem I've taken away to integrate into my life. With each integration, the same talk has the next piece to grow into. I love how she explores the idea of holding the tension of these opposing forces and the growth lies in staying with that conflict. This was especially profound for me when I'm tempted to procrastinate. It has made a remarkable difference in how I respond to that tension - I now remind myself that's where the work lies and bam! something changes and makes staying with that tension a tad bit more bearable. It has also helped with my sugar addiction!

Having done my dissertation on this concept of antithesis I thoroughly enjoyed Marion Woodman's scholarly book on the tensions of the opposites. I highly recommend this dynamic book!

All dysfunction begins from the Root, a ROOT OF ALL EVIL. it's a wonder why we have more atheists in our world evil today. The dysfunctional story of Adam-and-Eve was nothing but a lie. Think about it we were lied about Adam-and-Eve to there is a Santa Claus, a tooth fairy, and even a Easter Bunny. And now we learn that it was all because of an ego, An ego so strong That it became so intimidated by the feminine side. Still today we face a gender issue, But in reality it is still an ego issue. It explains why the division we are facing today.

This makes sense why the division.
