The incredible journey of a 355-pound college dropout who survived a bomb and then became a CEO and Ironman triathlete.

When a bomb imploded her building on April 19, 1995, Amy fell three stories and was buried alive for over six hours. In the aftermath of her trauma and loss, Amy enacted the power of hope to transform from victim to champion in her work, education, health, spirit, and love.

Amy's open, vulnerable, and seemingly impossible journey reveals the raw power of authentic hope. No matter how heavy our burdens may weigh - from our careers, health, addictions, insecurities, trauma, or loss - Amy reminds us that hope is a verb we can enact today to transform our lives into the future of our dreams.

I read a book a week. For this year, this is the book of the year for me. She doesn’t hold back, shares her faults, challenges and triumphs. If you read one non-fiction book this year, this should be it.

Outstanding! Book of the year for me.

This was a great listen from beginning to end. I felt like I was with Amy on her journey, so realistic and vulnerable for her to share. She was very motivating, and uplifting. I finished the entire book in one day.

Fantastic story!

Wow! This isn’t the first time I have heard a version of this story but the first time to hear it in this context and man is it powerful! I have always wondered how a person could ride so far on a bike but the love you and Terry have for your adventures is so wonderful. The trials and tribulations you have been though and have fought to overcome are inspiring! Thank you for taking the time to tell the story! It meant even more coming directly from you.

Inspiring

The story is written so well, waving the Ironman race with Amy’s life story. They made Amy so relatable and approachable, even though most will never experience anything like what she did.

Engaging and inspiring story

I have thoroughly enjoyed this story. I hadn’t heard of Amy Downs until I came across her interview on “what was that like” podcast. The way she conveyed her story and how she spoke about herself and her life was in a way I related to. Almost immediately after hearing about her book I started listening to it and couldn’t stop. I am 26 years old , and often feel like I’m lost in my journey. Amy’s story makes me feel like I was listening to a friend and a role model , giving advice and insight into how one can choose to live their life.

Be an active change maker in your life .
