Interacting with family and a few close friends is very easy. But meeting new people, talking in a group, or speaking in public can cause extreme shyness to kick in. My social phobia makes me extremely shy and self-conscious. This book aids in identifying and mastering making friends and interacting with strangers. The chapter on how to form lifelong friendships is very good.

Good help for social phobia

I got this book because once I got out of the Army we moved to another city where I didn't know anyone and had to start a new job and get settled in a new town. It was like waking up one day and realizing you don't have any really close friends. I still call a few of the close ones but I never get to see them now. I wanted to change that. So, enter this book. My biggest fear to overcome was opening up to people, and finding the right ones to open up to. Being in the Army for so long I was also adjusting to being in a "civilian" world, the topics of conversation are totally different. the author addresses ways to be more comfortable with yourself and the things you need to do to make friends. The narrator was pleasant f to listen to, and the story is laid out in a logical way to take you to where you want to go and what you need to learn. So far the strategies in this book have been helpful to me. I have reached out to a few people and started to lay the groundwork for making some new friends in this new environment. I know I'm the one that has to make the effort to change, and this book is very helpful in helping me get there. I would recommend this to anyone seeking to find a way to make new friends.

So helpful

This book gives you great ideas for ways to improve your relationships. It's also very compassionate, and won't make you judge yourself for mistakes you've made in the past. It takes some courage to even download a book like this, and the author keeps you safe and supports you through the process. Great book. Excellent narrator, too.

This book will help so many people!

I read this as an ebook, and as good as it was, it’s so much better as an audiobook. The topic is interesting, the advice is heartfelt, and the narrator carries you along with the story. I truly liked this book. Lots of good advice.
