My first symptom was a lot of stomach pain, which I thought was from stress. I realized it could be IBS when my symptoms continued for a year after I had recovered from being sick. My doctor told me that I needed to start taking Imodium every day to stop diarrhea.

After some time, things had improved but not enough so it would be manageable without taking medication every day. The doctor told me that the only thing that might help is surgery or drugs like Lotronex or Prevalite. I decided I didn't want to have surgery so I tried taking Dipentum for a few months, which ended up giving me severe side effects. I had to stop taking it immediately after I felt my heart pounding in my chest and I got really dizzy one day after I took it.

I healed myself by changing what I ate and how I thought about food, but IBS is still something that impacts my life every day. Now I can eat out at restaurants more often, be around people who are sick without worrying that they're going to make me sick too, go on trips without having to worry about bathrooms being available or clean, sleep through the night without having to wake up with stomach pain, and live the life I want without IBS holding me back.

This was an excellent kick off introduction book. It’s easy to listen to and narration is good. It doesn’t go in depth very much so I actually hope the author comes out with a longer version of this, just because I want to know more information. There were definitely some good tips and tricks. I liked the list that was provided of foods to cut out of your diet to see if it would help and if you ate those foods did it trigger movements.
