Yes, this can be read as a stand-alone story, but it’s a much richer world when you know the stories of all the other characters, too;-)
I can appreciate some finer points of Vice Admiral Niobe even if I don’t like her much.
I enjoyed Elite Hunter Quinn, though I wanted to throw something at him for verbally cutting her off - overriding her- at her major meeting. I worked for a major bank for years and it’s always a dance between steps forward and back for professional women. Quinn would have lost Niobe at least 8 steps back in the real world. Bad Hunter!
I really like the variety of quality narrators in this series.

I have been hooked for quite sometime with Grace’s books and this is one of my favorites. It gave a different perspective/story but I thoroughly enjoyed. I advent after I listened to another one I was interested in her story and if she had a book. It will likely be a re-read for me!
