I thought I understood power.

My parents taught me that magic attracts equal danger, and everything I've seen since becoming a demon contractor confirms it. I've witnessed how power twists and corrupts - and I've tasted power no human should wield.

I thought I knew greed.

Ambition and avarice drove my family into hiding. My parents died for someone else's greed. I've never hunted anything in my life, but now I'm hunting their killer - with my demon's help.

I thought I'd seen evil.

But with each step closer to my parents' murderer, I'm uncovering a different sort of evil, piece by hidden piece. I've stumbled into an insidious web that silently, secretly ensnares everything it touches. My demon and I came as the hunters...but I think we might be the prey.

I just recently started listening to annette Marie's stories, Chris dukehart is a fantastic narrorator just like James marshters and The dresden files. I really am enjoying Robin's story even more than Tori's especially how vastly different her adventures are from Tori's im going to be really sad when I finish the penultimate climax of both their stories.

Amazing

I am wholly engrossed in this series. I want to just listen to it all in one sitting but work calls. However when I finish the book I am sad and eager to start the next.

Totally captivating

I really enjoy these books. The narrator is good. The story is finally coming togeather.

Robin And Zylas for the win.

Robin and Zylas are still searching for Claude and for information about the amulet. She is slowly translating her mother's grimoire but has not come up with anything much. So, Robin decides to use the library in the guild to research when she learns Tori is also looking for information on demon artifacts and she suspects one of Tori's friends has an association with a demon after Zylas smelled a demon on one of them. When all the guilds are attacked by golems, Robin suspects Claude has teamed up with an evil sorceress and ends up working with Ezra to find Claude and his sorcerer cronies.
Robin is still pretty ignorant of the mythical world. She knows a little about contracts and summoning, but not a lot. She has an issue with speaking her mind as well. It puts a barrier between her and Zylas, so that they cannot communicate in their minds anymore. They will have to figure out how to trust each other if they want to be able to defeat Claude's demon. I love how Amalia is turning into a better person and that she isn't just some spoiled brat anymore as well. I like Robin but Amalia is making her way up my list. I also love how now all the stories in this world are starting to come together and the characters are all meeting. There is a lot if interaction with Ezra in this book and we get a better look at his demon as well.
There is a lot of buildup in this story in this book. Robin is translating the grimoire and finding out she may not be the first to have a contract with 12th house demon and there is definitely more to 12th house demons than we ever suspected. The plots of the different Guild Codex world are converging and if you haven't read the other series there are some spoilers, but I don't know how much it would really give away (although I do recommend reading in the author's recommended order). It has been a couple years since I have listened to the series, but it was so easy to get right back in without too much trouble. Previous events are explained with just enough detail to remember but not to seem as if it's over explaining. Once again, the narrator was great and has a great range of voices. When I started the series I remember wondering why they used the same narrator for Robin and Tori, but now I understand with the "worlds" merging. I am looking forward to continuing and finishing this series.

Great getting back into this series

Love this series! Robin and her hot demon get closer still. She also learns more about him and her ancestor's past. She also has to make a deal that she may later regret. Lots of action, suspense, some romance, and giggles sprinkled in there too.
Great narration!
