In this tense thriller from the bestselling author of What You Did and The Other Wife, a woman finds a dead body. Will she make the same mistake as last time?

Rachel lives a quiet life in the peaceful countryside, content with her perfect man and her lovely dog. But when she stumbles upon a body in the woods one day, all that shatters. She knows what she has to do: run. Don’t get accused of murder. But when this victim is identified as her boyfriend’s estranged wife, Rachel realises she’s already the prime suspect.

With mounting evidence against her, Rachel’s only hope is to keep her past well hidden. Because before she was Rachel, she was Casey, a young nanny trying to make it as an actress in Los Angeles—and when the family she worked for were brutally murdered, she narrowly escaped the death penalty. Now, she’ll do anything to save the life she’s spent years piecing back together.

But the police are closing in, and Rachel can’t help wondering: Was her discovery in the woods really just an awful coincidence, or is someone framing her for murder? Someone who knows who she is, and wants revenge…

Fun listen and enjoyed the performance overall, though the reader couldn’t really do an American accent, which was kind of distracting.

Entertaining listen, enjoyed the story

Loved every second of it. Racy Casey definitely has bad luck it seems when she moves to America and becomes a nanny at 19. With a fresh new start and a new name, she is once again, on the suspect list of a murder. I really enjoyed the twist at the end and honestly, I don’t think I’d do it any different than what Rachel, er, Casey had done!

Wow

Not my preferred genre of books. I tried to stop reading several times, but just couldn't stop. This is one twisted tale of deceit, naivete, and of course, murder, actually, several murders. It is a worst case scenario for a young British born nanny as she attempts to make her mark in America. Author Claire McGowan can tell a great story and her books are always worth reading.
For Audible fans, I think you will enjoy the performance by Esther Wane of I Know You as much as I do.

Esther Wane's performance is excellent.

One of the best books I’ve listened to in a while. Suspenseful, well written, and compelling. I couldn’t stop listening.

Loved this book!

I am torn on how to rate I Know You by Claire McGowan. On one hand, I didn't like the mystery aspect of the book and found it mildly predictable. However, I found Claire's insight to one's feelings for being labeled as something so horrific, despite however long ago, while trying to put their life back together to be insightful and honest. If the book would have stayed on one path or the other, I would have rated it accordingly, but, alas, I'll settle at 3 stars.

There are quite a few things I didn't like about the mystery part. It also seemed we should believe Rachel is only somewhat smart to keep the story going, which is frustrating.

Esther Wane is a pretty good narrator.
