Perfect level of suspense

The narrator was perfect, and the storyline was captivating. I wasn't able to figure it all out until almost the very end. Perfect level of suspense. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Great book!

I read some negative reviews so I went in apprehensive but I absolutely loved this book. I don’t regret giving it the time!

Unexpected

This book took me by surprise. I thought I easily guessed the antagonist or killer, however, I was greatly mistaken. This book and many back and forths. It definitely kept me reading and wanting to know “who did it”.

A Mother’s Grief, Strength, and the Truth She Refused to Let Go

I Came Back for You by Kate White was a compelling and emotional thriller that I connected with deeply, especially through the character of Bree. As a mother, her grief over the loss of her daughter felt incredibly real and raw. On top of that heartbreak, she is also dealing with the betrayal of her husband’s infidelity, which makes her journey through the story even heavier and more complex.
Watching Bree try to rebuild her life after so much loss was powerful. When she finds love again with someone across the world who brings her peace, understanding, and genuine care, it felt like she finally had a chance to breathe again. Her new partner’s willingness to accept her completely, including her pain and trauma, was one of the most beautiful aspects of the story.
Of course, peace never lasts long in a thriller. When Bree is forced to return and confront the circumstances surrounding her daughter’s death, everything she tried to leave behind comes rushing back. What follows is a determined search for the truth as Bree refuses to let her daughter’s story remain buried. Her emotional conflict, including the complicated trauma bond she still shares with her ex-husband, added another layer of realism to the narrative.
For much of the book, I truly didn’t know what was going on or who to trust, which kept the story engaging. By the final stretch, the ending became a bit more predictable, but it was still satisfying and emotionally rewarding.
Overall, this was a gripping story about grief, resilience, and a mother’s unwavering determination to uncover the truth for her child. Bree’s emotional journey made this one stick with me.

It kept me listening and didn’t put me to sleep. I’ll read more of Kate White’s books.
