This one covered an issue I was unaware of. Heard a news story since. Hope this isn't the end of Sharon McCone mysteries.

I didn't know.

I enjoyed the story in this. Focusing on native women in a little-known CA county was interesting. But I am over Marcia Muller's politics. I don't believe a hard-hitting PI with a husband in shady ops would really go on and on about gun control. I just want a good mystery.

I have read every Sharon McCone Mystery

The story itself was just okay. Character development was nearly non-existent and superficial; enjoyment of the characters was dependent on having read previous books by MM. Lucky for me I have. My biggest disappointment was the reader of the book. Everything about her intonations as well as the “age” of her voice seemed totally wrong. It took a lot of constraint to not just quit listening.

I have been a longtime fan of the author and have read or listened to all the books in the Sharon McCone series. For the first time I've left a book in the series unfinished, and I'm not questioning the act. As the headline indicates this book left me cold and the few chapters I made it through were due to duty and loyalty to an author I'd greatly appreciated. The subject was one I'd been aware of and looked forward to a book that addressed them, unfortunately it wasn't this book. The whole thing had all the emotion of a book report; I didn't connect with any of the characters including the MC. I don't know how many more books there will be in the series, and if there are more, if I'll choose to purchase any of them.
