If She Fled is the fifth book in a new psychological thriller series by best-selling author Blake Pierce.

When another 50-year-old woman is found dead in her home in a wealthy suburb - the second such victim in just two months - the FBI is stumped. They must turn to their most brilliant mind - retired FBI agent Kate Wise, 55 - to come back to the line of duty and solve it.

What do these two empty nesters have in common? Were they targeted? How long until this serial killer strikes again? And is Kate, though past her prime, still able to solve cases that no one else can?

An action-packed thriller with heart-pounding suspense, If She Fled is the fifth book in a riveting new series that will leave you listening to it, late into the night.

I enjoy the Kate Wise mysteries. These are plot driven with interesting if not well developed characters. The protagonist is a retired FBI agent who was called back in on a case following a year of mandatory retirement. The case was related to one she had worked on and had expertise in. Once solved she was invited back on a contingency basis. She only works on cases they feel her knowledge will increase the the FBI’s chance to solve it quickly. This is one of those cases.
Quinn Francis does an excellent job narrating.
Recommended light listening. This book is great for breaking up heavier more detailed books.

Light listening/good story...

... however, facts about her age, her family and her job change from book to book - makes me think that
to many people are writing the book and no one proofs the final story-
And, the narrator mispronounces “been” as bean over and over. That too is annoying.
Those things said, the series is great and always engrossing!

Kate Wise is great

I read the four previous Kate Wise mysteries on my Kindle. For something different, I listened to this on Audible. I have to admit, I just didn't care for the narrator. I don't feel like she read fluently. Her phrasing and emphasis on words seemed odd. She also over pronounced words making her sound unnatural. I've never heard the word been pronounced like 'bean.' It was very distracting. I don't know if the Riley Paige series has the same narrator, but I'm sticking with actually reading those rather than listening.

I've Read All Five

It is very irritating to have the same problem with Kate's boss. Why did he even bother to ask her to go to a case, stating that he had to have an answer right then only to pull her away two days later making the readers hate the boss because it seems irrational that he works pull get from a case so fast. I don't know anything that can be solved that fast.

As for the narrator, please, please, read the book before narrating. I think that's the issue, it seems like she hasn't read the story to get the characters and vocabulary correct.

Every book so far has the same storyline. Just different murders and suspects. Don’t know if I’ll finish the series.

Predictable
