There are dog people. There are cat people. Then there are those who keep a dungeon as a pet.

Shana had a big summer: With the help of her best friends and a hero from another world, she’s conquered dungeons, leveled up, defeated a small cult of evil sorcerers, and looted hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of gold. But maybe the greatest treasure was the dungeon core they found.

With it, Shana and her friends can build a dungeon of their own, one that will reward them gold and experience for defeating enemies. But that’s only if they can figure out how to make it grow. There’s also one other little problem. The dungeon core they “found” had previous owners who are none too happy that it’s gone missing, and who will stop at nothing to get it back.

More laughs, more action, more magic, mote bad guys, more surprises. I think my very favorite part of this book was the delightfully bizarre new character of Penny, the titular dungeon. Highly entertaining! Can’t wait for the release of the sequel.

Even better than the first!

Every bit the "page" turner as the first book. the characters feel like real reasonable humans and not some kind of action hero. There are plenty of humorous moments and moments that will make you cheer. there are also a few solid kicks to the fourth wall in an almost Pratchett way.

I'm really looking forward to the next book.

The fun continues

I didn’t know that LitRPGs were a thing until this series. I’m hooked! I absolutely loved both of them. Hoping there’s a third in the works!

Extremely Entertaining!

This might sound weird, but I find that many series of which I really, really enjoy the first book end up getting wayyyyyy too dark in future books. It's like authors who write wholesome MCs don't know how to write a villain who isn't over-the-top sadistic, and they lean into gorey descriptions of torture and violence against innocents, protagonists, the villain's own allies, or other weak people in order to make the story more interesting or exciting or something? Or maybe to justify violence against the villain? In any case, I very, very much dislike that! Making villains so dark does NOT improve my enjoyment of a story!! Anyways, this series is great so far and has plenty of darkness in it yet hasn't crossed the line into being TOO dark to the point of causing visceral reactions that stick with me even after I'm done listening and make me question whether I wish to continue the series. It takes talent to tell a story this way, and it's been thoroughly enjoyable! :D I look forward to more! I also find it funny that TBBT was mentioned and the dungeon named Penny because I started the first book imaging Shawna as being just like Penny from TBBT. lol (They're both the "chill female ESFP" archetype.)

good level of darkness, comfortable explorations of morality
