The explosive new Scottish crime fiction novel from Amazon best-selling author JD Kirk.

It all started harmlessly enough. An egged window, a deflated car tire, and a few garden gnomes knocked over. But then, the silent calls began–late nights and early mornings to landlines and mobiles, and numbers that no one should have access to.

At their wits' end, three former British Army soldiers, now living in the Highlands of Scotland, have no choice but to turn to the police for help.

And that is when the killing starts.

Brought in to lead the case, Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan finds himself locked in a battle of wits with a meticulously organized murderer.

A murderer who has been planning all this for a very long time.

In Service of Death is the 17th book in the multimillion-selling DCI Jack Logan Scottish crime fiction series by JD Kirk. Perfect for fans of Iain Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and Stuart Macbride.

Jack and the gang, new members and some old (right then, ya wee c***splashes) are out to solve a murder with danger and suspects aplenty.
Well-paced and as always, great dialogue, characters and plot twists.
I laughed, I cried, I yelled out loud at times; had to hold my breath at the end and was channeling Hoonerisms at the author…
Angus King is outstanding with his narration taking you deep into the story.

Thank you JD Kirk for a wild ride.

Can’t wait for the next one.
I Enjoy these books, because the characters are likable and funny, and there’s always a good plot. I think Bob is hilarious.

Have to say that one of my many pleasures in life in recent years is to listen to a new JD Kirk every few months. I do not know how he is able to so quickly consistently produce new and interesting plots while including humor and fun. Of course Angus King's performance is a singular part of the overall enjoyment. In Service of Death was as much a joy to listen to as all the others. I think of my 650+ audible selections those by Kirk is the largest collection. I have every single one of his audible books and now simply pre-order any which become available. Mr. Kirk please 'keep em coming.'

How does JD Kirk write so many masterful books?

As a total fan of JD Kirk, I have read all of his novels and have loved each and every one. The mysteries always have many twists and turns but are revealed at a perfect pace. The narrator, Angus King is PERFECT every time and deftly distinguishes each character, male or female. Also, I love listening to the Scottish brogue and find that a bonus element to the storylines. I believe if you listen to one of Kirk's novels and really like it I think you will like or love them all. The combination of humor with serious events is genius.

All Great!

I think when I started this series the author and narrator were new to me at book 10. Of course I went back and either via ebook or audible I am all caught up. I love these endearing and quirky characters whether brash, loud or not. Our main character DC Logan is truly the heart of these stories and how they're told. I especially liked this book. I always like when you get a healthy dose of humor and mystery to keep you hanging on. I hope the series continues. I knocked this one out in 2 days.

Great addition to the series
