1933 Pea Ridge, Mississippi - A black man is murdered for the unspeakable crime of loving a white woman. Six months after his death, a mixed-race baby is born but the child vanishes. I’ve read most of Kathryn Le Veque’s novels. This one is by far the very best. The narrator did a fantastic job. I was entrenched from start to end.

Kathryn LE Veque has done it again! Her insight into the bias system of the 1920’s - 1980’s was elegantly brought to life in the story. Delightfully narrated by Leslie Wadsworth who expressively spoke the feelings of the people.
