Cassandra James is in for a terrible shock. She is not who she thinks she is, never has been. One morning she awakens to find the neat order of her wealthy, middle class world changed forever. Add to this the complication of Simon Fitzgerald, Marquess of Sutherfield. A handsome rogue at his most intriguing, he pursues Cassandra with single-minded determination, but his motives are not pure. He wishes to bed the lady, not marry her.

What a great way to tell a story that rarely happened in that time but you want to hear about. There are women who beat out their society duties and this is a great show of the story in a complicated love story. Never too repetitious. Perfectly balanced.

Wonderful - I'm on to book 3 and 4 but the narrator's voice in those does not sound as nice and appeasing as this narrators. Great voice over work by the narrator fyi in this book and the first. Can't understand why the same person didn't voice all the books as is generally standard.

If you could sum up In the Garden of Seduction in three words, what would they be?

Lively, fun, entertaining.

What did you like best about this story?

Writing and narration that made the story flow well and made the characters come to life. I wanted to stay with it, and found a fun romance to the end.

Have you listened to any of Jane McLaughlin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This one is different from the other I listened to because this one is done in an English accent. McLaughlin sounded like one of the sisters in Downton Abbey and really did a good job making me see and feel each character.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

It flowed quite evenly, I thought. Perhaps a typical romance story, but fun nonetheless.

Any additional comments?

I look forward to more by the same author and narrator.

Good story, very entertaining narration.
