The third best assassin. A second rate mercenary crew. One terrifying demon.

As Sharaam crumbles under siege, a mercenary crew hires an assassin to kill the king. For Tash, it's a chance at glory—to be the best blade in the dark Sharaam has ever known. For Pitt, it's a way to get his cutthroat crew past the Tsarii siege and out of this hellhole, maybe even with some gold to their name. For Iananr the Bound One, it's a dream of shadows and human blood.

Anna Smith Spark & Michael R. Fletcher are both excellent writers, but together for this special project, they make an unbearable pair. This story has dark moments and is filled with unusual characters. Part of the story is told from the perspective of a demon and is absolutely outstanding. I also enjoyed the Easter eggs scattered throughout this story. I cannot recommend this novella enough, and the audiobook narration is top notch!

Excellent Grimdark from two great writers!

Body horror (sorta dark humour but mostly just bloody). In the Obdidian Path world but I didn’t notice many crossovers. Just multiple direct mentions of Obsidian hearts. Kinda cross between Obsidian path and manifest delusions. Excellent but too short
Sequels??

Bloody and then more blood

Gorgeous prose. Great characters. Wonderful plot, pacing, and setting. If you like grimdark (and this little novella is very much that), you'll love this, and Emma Gregory's narration brings this story to life in truly fantastic fashion.

If you’ve never dropped acid or done shrooms and you want to know what that experience is, but don’t want to ingest illicit narcotics, just listen to this drivel. It’s senseless. It’s utter nonsense. Character development is almost non-existent even for a short book. World/environment building is non-existent.

There are interesting characters introduced in the book. Characters you’d like to know more about and develop an opinion of. The book doesn’t allow you to because it’s constantly bombarding you with needless, meaningless word salads. If you ran the written version of this book through grammar checking AI, you’d get a constant stream of “incomplete sentence, consider revising”.

I’ve seen folks with Tourette’s, but I’ve never seen anyone convey the malady in actual written form. It’s utter trash.

Narrator was fantastic. Absolutely awesome job by the narrator. Literally the only bright spot of the book. I feel bad for her having to read it though.

This book is so bad it’s angering.
