Nathan only ever wanted a normal life, but for him, life, family, and love are anything but normal.

On the other side of the Veil, dark and light fae exist outside the knowledge of most humans. Nathan Grier was born human, but his twin brother Jim is a changeling. On the run since they were children, time for both of them is running out. Turning to fae hunter Sasha Kelly for help, Nathan must soon face his growing feelings for the other man while trying to save himself and his brother from a fate worse than death.

I was initially interested and willing to be immersed in the first book of the Incubus Saga. Nathan is the human brother of a changeling. Dark fae blood runs in his family but only his brother Jim expresses the fae genes. Unfortunately Jim has lethal power and an unknown response to become evil or remain good once his full dark fae nature is developed. The story follows Nathan and Jim as they fight to save one another from a terrible fate in the dark fae realm.
Unfortunately for me the adventure became tedious . The author uses a method of creating situations that almost result in a satisfying mini conclusion, but then that satisfaction is denied. This method isn’t necessarily a bad plan in a story, but the pace of the story got dragged out and became so tedious that I started fast forwarding to speed things up. I am not sure I will buy the next two books. I will probably read them rather than listen to the audio.
I appreciate Amanda Meuwissen’s decision not to employ an AI voice. However, she narrates her own book and she isn’t a voice actor. She reads the story like a regular person versus the elevating performance given by a trained voice actor. It makes a huge difference in the listening immersive experience.
