India is a lovely country, and some of the nicest, most pious people on earth live there. However, just like anywhere else, India does have parasitic inhabitants that think of us, the tourists, as an open wallet. Here is a travel book designed to give the listener knowledge about traveling in India - while staying safe - based on practical experience of traveling in the country for two years.

Mental disturbance or closed head trauma? Totally paranoid view of everyone and everything in India, complete with complex narratives of all that he has suffered there at the hands of others. Yet he keeps returning. I was expecting this book to deal with avoidance of endemic diseases and how to avoid unwitting offences to those living in a culture mostly unfamiliar to me. This is more like a travel guide written by Torquemada.
The narrator deserves much credit for being able to perform this piece ably and without apparent judgement.

The author sounds like he has had terrible experiences during each of his trips to India which has made him very biased against all Indians. I tried to be understanding through the first couple of chapters, but continuously grouping all Indians together as thieves and immoral people made me feel like the money I paid for this book was going to support aggressive racism. He makes every situation sound as if it is going to turn into the worst case scenario and violence will be the only way out most of the time.

Hateful

What disappointed you about India: How-To Guide to Stay Safe?

Its simply horrible and not helpful in any way. At a few points, I wondered if this book was some sort of joke. For instance, the author advises to kill a thief, just put a knive to his chest and press it hard into his chest - it is within our right. The whole book is negative, and speaks to how awful India people are. On and on and on - I don't know why the author continued to spend time in India - he obviously despises everything about it. There are zero pointers to learn from this book. Do not waste your time or money on this book.

Horrible!

The book sounded irritatingly like it is written by a too sensitive and a little overthinking person. Although I have to give it to it, that there was also plenty of good and uselful advice.

The narrator, though had a funny way of talking, was actually rather pleasant to listen to.

Partly paranoid but mostly useful
