A tropical paradise sets the stage for a turbulent passion in this unforgettable tale from number-one New York Times best-selling author Nora Roberts.

To reconcile with her long-estranged father, Laine Simmons travels to Hawaii. But she soon finds her motives being questioned by his arrogant, judgmental, and extremely attractive business partner, Dillon O’Brian. It doesn’t help that every infuriating confrontation with the man only makes her want him more.

As Laine struggles to heal her past, she has to fight her treacherous heart - or admit to herself that this is one battle she’d rather lose….

Laine Simmons goes to Kauai, Hawaii to meet her estranged father. She meets Dillon, a friend of her father’s, who she doesn’t like before finding him attractive. Both characters were not well developed and Dillon was a little over the top. Island of Flowers felt very 1980s, which makes sense as it was written in 1982.

Wonderful development of characters. Could really get emotionally involved for the different characters. Loved the dialogue. Loved the feisty heroine! French accent great! Have enjoyed listening to this time and again.

Where does Island of Flowers rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Maybe In the middle. Nora Roberts is my favorite Author. This is clearly one of her early books. She improved a lot over the years.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Island of Flowers?

When Dillon shows up at her classroom in France.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Most of the time. At times to was a bit slow.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When he thought she was selling her body not her locket and was so angry with her.

Any additional comments?

I am from Hawaii. The Narrator should have done a better job finding out how to pronounce the Hawaiian place names on Kauai. She really botched that. She also tried to give the local people some kind of an accent which came out sounding like some sort faint European accent. This could not be more wrong.

Interesting early Nora work.

There felt like there should have been so much more to this story. The missing flashbacks, Caps story, sigh, well she does write a beautiful tale.
