What if the life you built wasn’t the life you chose—and the truth was locked inside your own forgotten memories?

💔 It Wasn’t Supposed to Be Like This

A novel about betrayal, memory, motherhood—and the love we fight for even when we no longer recognize it.

Amelia Rai had everything she was supposed to want.
A husband. A son. A home filled with laughter.
But when a car accident steals her memory, she wakes up to a life she doesn’t recognize—and a man she no longer trusts.

Jason was once her everything.
Now he’s just a stranger who flinches when she asks about the past.
As flashes of memory return, so does the ache in her chest. A woman’s perfume. A phone left unlocked. A truth that was buried for good reason.

Because the life Amelia built?
It’s one she chose to forget.
And remembering might destroy her all over again.

Told in alternating perspectives, It Wasn’t Supposed to Be Like This is a heart-wrenching novel about secrets, survival, and second chances.

For readers who love Colleen Hoover, Taylor Jenkins Reid, and books that make you feel everything.

The general story is good but there are some MAJOR discrepancies in it. The FMC has been in an accident. It’s told that she saw her husband leave his office with another woman and she follows them and runs a red light and has an accident. Then at other parts of the book it tells that she was just driving and wrecked after this woman came to their house. The story says that the woman went to the husbands work and he was rushing her out to his car to take her to the ER when the wife followed him. The other scenario was that he was at home and the woman called him and he just told his wife he had to go out and he rushed out the door. She looked him up on a phone location app and saw he was traveling fast away from wherever she thought he should be so she calls him and leaves 23 voicemails. After the 17th call he silences his phone. The scenario where she watches him leave his office with the woman she makes the 23 calls but in the emergency he left his phone in the office. Both scenarios were explanations of what happened when the mistress contacted him with an emergency. At his office she just showed up. The other was a phone call while at home. I have no idea how no one noticed this and didn’t correct it. The book with the same title by the same author is in the big picture the same storyline but a completely different story. Completely! The audio story is better if you can overlook the discrepancies. The ones I mentioned are only one example. There are more than just that and some of the situations described needed elaboration so you could get an idea of wth is supposed to be going on or have happened. If you can overlook those things the books not bad. Lol

Good story but….
