"We've got millions!" the prospectors roared to the throng at Seattles' docks. "The Klondike is the richest goldfield in the world!" Within moments, the telegraph is humming the news. Within hours, fifteen-year-old Jason Hawthorn is rushing west from New York City with a bad case of Klondike fever.

For readers who love a survival story told with bone-chilling authenticity, Will Hobbs has spun a saga of courage, friendship, and endurance set under the northern lights and amidst the actual events of the Klondike gold rush.©2000 Will Hobbs; (P)2009 Listening Library

the narrator was fun to listen to and the story kept the interest of our 8 year old grandson and his grandparents!

This story was on of my favorites growing up. I’ve read this book a dozen times. The narrator did a phenomenal job. Highly recommend this book, especially to younger readers.

The story line was phenomenal.

I first read this book in 5th grade. This book, along with 3-4 others, is the reason why I love the outdoors and especially the suffering of a bitter cold winter day with the wind and snow whipping. A winter day in January in the plains or the Midwest is nothing compared to those who took on the task of surviving winter in the North. I really enjoy the way Will Hobbs ties reality and factual accounts into a fictional story and hints at real figures from this time frame and events during the Klondike Gold Rush. The narrator was very good at expressing tones and feeling and relayed the story well. If you like adventure and the outdoors, survival stories or any historical accounts of the Klondike I highly recommend this book.

A revisit many years later
