The word Christ came into existence 300 years after Jesus; and out of the word Christ developed Christian and Christianity. While Friedrich Nietzsche stated that Christ was the last Christian, according to Osho, Jesus was not only the last Christian, but he was also the first Christian–the first and the last Christian, because in this world no individual is ever repeated.

In this talk, Osho dives into the unknown history of Jesus and early Christianity in India, which he describes as the oldest in the world. The Vatican is a late development. Like a lecture in comparative religion, Osho presents Christianity in a wider context of Hinduism, Buddhism, and even Zen.

This one had a really slow start. The best part that I liked was when he mentioned that Jesus was a Jew and Buddha was a Hindu, after Jesus was gone he was called a Christian and after Buddha was gone he was called Buddhist. The people around Jesus for example were annoyed with his claims to be the only begotten son of god. Osho made it clear that if you were a contemporary with a founder of religion you might be annoyed with him because you can see him sweating, you can smell him, that familiarity breeds contempt. When they are a thousand years removed we put them on a pedestal, name religions after them and worship them but when they were actually here a great deal of people disliked what they were saying. There were certain points during this discussion where he mentioned that Jesus and Thomas traveled to India and they both died there. Jesus has so many stories told about him he is becoming quite the mythical figure in the modern day, who really knows what to believe anymore when it comes to this topic?

Osho talks about the deification of Jesus and other religious figures are mentioned as well.

Longtime fan of Osho. But this recording only minimally discusses Jesus, so don’t expect to hear a lot about that. More like a mix of different topics and reminiscing. Can’t recommend, especially based on how it is titled. Peace
