Mohammed is an Arab in love with Iris, a Jewish soldier of 18 years defending the State of Israel. Will he experience the happiness of a love fulfilled or will he experience the tragedy of rejection and be engulfed in an excruciatingly tragic end?

In his second play, H. C. Kim explores the themes of love and sorrow. Like his first play, Ping Pong: A Play about American College Life, Jewish Being centralizes the idea of the power of love. Love is the most awesome phenomena in the world. However, as wonderful as love is, passion cannot be separated from its context. Often, social circumstances add sorrow to love.

How will Mohammed's social environment impact him and his love? Follow the intricate web of complications as Mohammed and Iris explore themselves and the world around them. You will find yourself cheering, hoping, wishing.

Heartbreaking Mandate

This short play illustrates the complexity and nuance of the Arab-Israeli situation. It is heartbreaking on many levels. I can only hope that as my heart breaks with tears from having read this ...:that peace could occur here on this earth in the hearts of every person who projects his/her dark shadows on to others.
