In Killed in Action, Michael Sloan, the co-creator of The Equalizer—the classic TV show now reimagined in a series starring Queen Latifah—presents an original story of the mysterious ex-intelligence operative using his skills to help people in desperate and dangerous situations.

“Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer.”

Between seeking a young woman drawn into a white slavery ring and hunting a psychotic vigilante getting innocents killed in his war on New York City crime, Robert McCall is pushing himself beyond his limits to save lives.

Then McCall is approached by a United Nations diplomat. Her son, an American Captain in the US Army, is part of a contingent advising Syrian Rebel forces in their fight against the Jihadists. He has been reported KIA, but his body has not been found. She asks McCall to find out if her son is alive or dead.

During what appears to be a suicidal rescue mission in Syria, McCall stumbles upon a terror plot aimed at the United States. The terrorists are being protected by mercenaries known as Momento Miro—Remember That You Must Die. The key to the terror attacks is McCall’s one-time boss, Control, the head of a spy organization called “The Company.” He is also missing. His life has been deleted from all personal and intelligence records, as if he never existed.

Now, McCall has to find his old friend and stop these terror attacks from being carried out on American soil.

Author is still obsessed with beautiful women and their breasts, which seem be necessary features of the many damsels in distress he writes about. Good stories, though.

Good Story but Outdated Sexism

This novel was more true to the style of the show that I am old enough to have watched on the original run. This can be a little confusing at times as you wonder why you are meeting all these characters but stick with it. There are reasons. Great job to performer too. excellent. Happy with it all.

Better than the first

I doubt that I am the only female listening. Too many guns and nipples. Guns and nipples do not improve the story. WAY too many guns! Way too many erect nipples. Good grief! At least there are not as many guns and erect nipples as in The Equalizer. If you have your own guns and your own nipples, it feels like being hit repeatedly over the head with cast iron frying pans after you listen for a while.

I couldn't be any happier with the new releases this week! I have just finished listening to two fabulous books!! The first was HELLBENT by Gregg Hurwitz and the second is this one. I had completely given up all hope of Michael Sloan writing a second EQUALIZER book. Anyway this book is a must read/listen and is JUST AS GOOD AS THE FIRST BOOK!
This book begins with a near rape in an alley. A man calling himself the Equalizer neutralizes the two would be rapists, the woman gets away. The man calling himself the Equalizer leaves a business card identifying himself as the Equalizer but he's not Robert McCall.

McCall is actually in a different part of NYC rescuing a young woman. He's been hired by the girl's mother. When he points the waiting mother out to the girl she tells him "that's not my mother ".
This book has an eclectic mix of human sex trafficking, jihadists and ISIS terrorists, a wannabe Equalizer who doesn't mind collateral damage, a slumlord who is taught a valuable lesson and that's not all! To say this book is high action would be an understatement.
Jeff Gurner does an outstanding job narrating.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this book.
