From foolish laughter to quiet resolve… Kitty Bennet’s heart is about to be tested.
Once the most boisterous of the Bennet sisters, Catherine “Kitty” Bennet has grown weary of empty flirtations and thoughtless chatter. Determined to become more than Lydia’s shadow, Kitty begins to uncover her own strength and the surprising joy of being a true hostess and companion.
Jonathan Pierce, a rising politician with reform on his mind, seems the last man to appreciate Kitty’s newfound maturity. Stern, serious, and far too stubborn, he resists her charm even as she longs to prove herself more than a silly girl. Yet the more time they spend together, the more Kitty discovers that her heart is no longer satisfied with admiration—it craves purpose, partnership, and love.
But Jonathan is slow to see what stands before him, and Mrs. Bennet has plans of her own. Will Kitty’s chance at happiness be swept away by a mother’s schemes, or can she and Jonathan learn to fight for a future together?
In this tender and spirited continuation of Jane Austen’s world, Kitty Bennet steps out from the shadows to find her voice, her strength, and the love she never dared to expect.

I have listened to a couple books now with virtual voice. It sounds like a real person with voice influctuations but every person sounds the same and it’s hard to follow transitions between characters. It takes away from the story when you keep trying to figure out who is talking. The story itself was typical of the period which I like.

I liked this story pretty well. I love books about the younger sisters since they typically play small roles P&P variations. I was a little concerned that Kitty really didn't know Jonathan. They spent little to no time together yet the story is written in such a way that the reader believes she does love him and then that he loves her, but he's too dense to admit it. I love that Kitty and Mary have become close and that Kitty helps Mary along in her romance. Lydia was rather cruel to Kitty so I didn't much care for her.
I listened to the audiobook which has virtual narration. It would be better with a live narrator but it wasn't as bad as some.

Nice story
