This was a really important story for young readers. Kristy did a lot of learning in this one about how there are different degrees of being handicapped and/or mentally challenged, and how you can't change some things in short period of time. I'm just glad she didn't tell Susan's mom about her plan and embarrass herself.

She also learned about how cruel the world is.

This is one of the heartbreaking ones.

The Babysitter's club is introduced to Autism in this book and the narrators do an excellent job.

Rather outdated views on Autism, but, well done for it's time. Poor Susan, some kids calling her a retard, disgusting. Kristy has good intentions, and a kind heart, but, she has to learn that her plans won't work, no matter how well meaning they may be. Still, great effort.

Poor Kristy. She means well, though.
