Nicholas Eastwood is finally about to get everything he ever wanted. As a reward for his service to the Crown, he has been offered the title of marquess. All he has to do is stay scandal-free until the papers are signed. There's just one problem: His ex-lover, presumed dead, is remarkably alive.

Adelaide Bursnell is determined to right her wrongs. She will be a dutiful daughter and loving sister. Most importantly, she must marry before her scandal catches up to her. Nicholas was once her ruin, but now he is determined to be her salvation. If he can find her a suitable husband, their shared past can stay buried.

But old temptations prove impossible to resist, and scandal can never stay secret for long....

Contains mature themes.

Heart break, wistfulness, love. I loved the continuation of the last book but it could also be read as a stand aline

This was a good story. The characters were complex in some ways with lots of baggage to deal with. Narrator was excellent!

who was Fresia married to in the end.... it doesn't say? I wish there was a more complete ending.

good story

The hero was so emotionally cruel by how he treated her that his love in the last 17 minutes isn't believable. The heroine's constant self berating on top of his berating & sexual use of her seemed unfair & unworthy of it. Some redeemable qualities for him & more real backbone for her would have made this much better. Also, heroine's father was a bastard for how he treated her (wouldnt look at her, ignored her, etc) & her sister was obliviously selfish & self-involved unless she was stupidly meddling. It was like watching an abused dog getting kicked & starved by everyone. The HEA was hard to believe 100%.
