The Marquess of Bromton has just learned that he's a bastard. Feeling his honor is at stake, he attempts to bestow his estate upon a rightful heir by manipulating a high-stakes card game. But the winner demands more than Bromton bargained for-a marriage...to his spinster sister. Lady Katherine may be the least marriageable lady in all of England, but a child of their union would be a rightful heir....

Scandal has hardened Lady Katherine and narrowed her world to duty and family. There's nothing to be trusted in the Society she left behind...especially not the imperious marquess with his single-minded pursuit. Or his knee-weakening kisses. Except, the more their connection deepens, the more Bromton surprises Katherine. But the truth about their courtship could destroy everything....

This story was good enough to finish although predictable. Characters good enough to make a series, I think but we’ll see as i read through them. The narrator was okay but I didn’t care for the male main character’s voice, but others were okay. Could of been my mood at the time but this book wasn’t one of those I couldn’t wait to get back to. But overall this book was better than a lot I have listened to before & didn’t finish.

Sorta good….

Really tough to sister to a women’s narrative voice trying to do a “bass@ deep voice , you can hear her trying to maintain the deep voice by speaking slowly - I wanted to take a nap.

Ouch

I liked the inclusion of childhood memories ‘tossing her older brother’s ships in the lake’. The playful banter while in the company of friends and family. Twists in the story that showed the difference in the character’s upbringing and parents’ expectations. The strong female characters who held their own in banter and conversation with the male characters.

Strong females who enjoy plotting and lively banter

This was so good. Like better than I even thought it would be. It was so hard to listen to because of how freaking RAW the tension was. Just phenomenal.

INCREDIBLE!

This story contained the usual themes. It was interesting to see how serious Giles was about trying to do the right thing, where his lineage was concerned and being humbled in the end by his mother.
Nice to see the reversal of behavior where the men and women were concerned.

Twist on honor, behavior and what defines you.
