Lady Mary doesn’t trust her heart.

Mary is tired of pining for the unobtainable Blake Gunther, so she recruits her brother’s help to match her with someone more suitable. The handsome Lord Templeton falls right into her hands and is eager to pursue her, only her heart is refusing to comply. Further complicating matters, Blake is treated like family and is there every time Mary turns around.

After a few false rumors, Blake is cut off financially—until he marries. With no money to leave his parent’s estate, his only options are to marry someone in the neighborhood or let his mother drive him mad. As the younger sister to his best friend, Mary is not on his list. When they’re unexpectedly thrown together to help Mary’s family through a crisis, Blake’s heart beats for someone else for the first time in his life. He wants Mary, but he has to convince her he can be trusted first. He usually charms his way out of everything, but Mary will not be charmed. Mary only wants to be loved.

Lady Mary Contrary is the second novella in the Regency Ever After series, and is a sweet and clean, romantic retelling.

This was a cute Regency retelling with some twists of its own. I liked the overall story. As far as the narration goes, I was surprised at first it was AI, it was better than I expected, thought it doesn’t quite capture the emotions and the male voice was harder to differentiate. That being said, it was still pleasant and easy to listen to. I recommend it. I can’t wait to read more by this author.

Cute Regency twist/retelling.

Didn’t like the virtual voice. The story itself was nice. But the automated voice doesn’t give the story the same depth. Not a fan of virtual voice.

Nice sweet story

Sweet story, although very predictable. The AI voice is very soothing, but not enough emotion, or the correct emphasis at times.

Pleasant romance without any real depth. AI narration
conveyed the story in a even voice without any brightness or vocal variation to bring it to life.

Sweet Short Historical Romance
