DCI Matilda Darke is back. And it might be her most personal case yet.

‘Matilda Darke is the perfect heroine’ Elly Griffiths

FIVE PERFECT MURDERS

DCI Matilda Darke receives an anonymous email from someone claiming to have committed the perfect murder. Experience tells her this isn’t possible, but as she investigates, she discovers a killer questioning everything she’s ever known.

HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

Now, Matilda is on the trail of a murderer who targets the most vulnerable people in society. Apart from ‘With Sympathy…’ cards, hand delivered to the family of his victims, he leaves no trace of his crimes.

A KILLER’S DEADLY GAME

As the threat escalates, and those closest to Matilda are targeted, she finds herself isolated and alone in bringing down her opponent before it’s game over. After all, there can only be one winner in this game of cat-and-mouse, and the clock is ticking…

Holy cow! I thought I knew who it was or that I was at least on the right track, but dang..... I was way off. This one was fantastic! Matilda is going to end up institutionalized by the end of this series

I thoroughly enjoyed “Last One Left Alive,” the 12th installment in Michael Wood’s DCI Matilda Darke series. Stephanie Beattie's narration is truly exceptional, bringing the story to life with her exquisite vocal skills. The plot is intriguing, with Matilda Darke facing off against a cunning killer who’s targeting vulnerable individuals in society. With its twists and turns, this thriller kept me engaged from start to finish. A captivating series with a compelling heroine, "Last One Left Alive" is a must-listen. I’m eagerly anticipating Book 13 – as I am hoping it will continue where Book 12 left off. Worth a cherished credit. Epic, indeed!

This series started out great but becomes more ridiculous with each story. Not believable that every crime is about someone’s obsession with Mathilda and her team. For her safety and the safety of others she should move to someplace far, far away.

Author needs to find a storyline that doesn’t involve serial killers and psychological angst as the main theme.

As with the last book, this was left without closure and honestly I’m to the point I don’t care what happens.
