Good lessons, but with editing issues.

A great set of lessons for visiting and getting around Japan. The instructor is easy to understand, knowledgeable, and fun. I especially enjoyed how the sentences were broken down into their literal components, so you can understand Japanese sentence structure. There are also fun cultural insights where the teacher shares her personal experiences.
Unfortunately, there are frequent editing issues with the audio and you will here the same (English) sentence repeated or spliced together in odd ways. My second complaint is that the lessons are built from a weekly podcast format and the instructor assumes that it's been a week since your last lesson, and often reviews topics that you covered only a few moments ago. I've listened to the second part of this series and it does not suffer from the same issues.

Effective for Beginners

I studied this audio book for 3 months before my trip to Japan and it works!

All you need for vacation level Japanese

I've listened to this "Survival Phrases" series for Japanese and Italian for vacations and this Japanese one is so so so much better than the Italian. I missed Sachiko-san so much! just wanted to write this review to say that but a probably more useful fact is that I had no trouble memorizing these set phrases and they actually came in practical use during my month long trip around Japan. I accidentally tricked an old lady in a small rural town into thinking I knew more Japanese than I did. she was so disappointed!

Entertaining

The narrator or the person teaching has a very joyous voice that encourages you the listener to learn and not get bored.
Also the repetition of the words broken down and normally said makes the word more understandable.
I heard other Japanese learning audible books and the narrator is either too fast or they tell you a story of Japan instead of teaching you how to speak Japanese.

Very useful!

Many useful terms and short sentences to survive a visit to Japan. I would also say the it's very useful for those who live in Japan and need to manage in the daily life, even they don't speak any japanese.
