Witness the rise of man’s first galactic federation: The Terran Alliance.

When Simon and Katherine Hawke stumble upon an alien shuttle that has landed on earth, it’ll not only change the course of their lives, but of the entire world. Taking the shuttle into orbit, they discover a much larger ship left adrift with no one on board. Commandeering it, they confirm that we’re not alone in the universe and must prepare the human race for what is about to come.

Recruiting from all over the world, they begin to expand their fleet and build a federation to give humans a foothold in the galaxy. Thus, the Terran Alliance is formed, led by Simon, Kitty, Gayle, and their new comrades.

Everything is going according to planned as they construct more ships, but the governments of the world are vying for control of these technologies. To make matters worse, their second encounter with an alien species is not one of peace. After the attack, they are left with more questions than answers as they face resistance from, not only outer space, but their home planet as well.

Really good take on the average joe finds spaceship genre. There could be more action and, I suspect will be as the story unfolds in the sequence. It reminded me of the original novel that ignited my love for SciFi (Heinlein’s have spacesuit will travel) could do with a bit of editing to reduce some repetition but not enough to warrant fewer stars. I am starting book 2 as soon as I finish writing this review.

Would have gotten 5 stars if they would’ve left the nasty cigarettes out of the story. Come on, nobody on a spaceship or a space base is going to be soaking up the air recycling by smoking a nasty 🤢 cigarette. Surely the author is not so untalented to need to use this tactic to make the word counts.

There seems to be a lot of negative reviews recently so thought I’d add my two cents. To be clear, my review is based on entertainment value. To me.

I am enjoying the book and the narrator’s performance so far. If you like a book about alien discovery (tech) and the potential Socioeconomic-world power implications then I’m recommending this book. It’s great entertainment for me and the characters are compelling.

So far so good

The narrator did a great job as usual.

If you like the "Lost fleet" series you should give this one a try,.

Great Start... Looking to the next book

the story has huge potential. the characters are pretty good and the plot is quite good. if I have one problem it's the representation of the female characters. sadly the author doesn't redeem this until the end of the book which I believe is on purpose you'll have to read it to understand what I'm talking about but for most of the book most of the female characters are inept stereotypical helpless or they are attractive honey pots. now that I've finished the book though I feel that this was done on purpose. you'll have to read it to see what I'm talking about it's a good book though and I look forward to the second story in the series.

great story but...
