Physical sickness affects more than just our bodies; it takes a toll on our emotional and spiritual health as well. In this honest book, best-selling author John Piper shares ten lessons he learned while in the hospital. Written to help those in the hospital focus their attention on God, his grace, and his plan—when such focus can be especially hard—this volume blends together personal narrative with biblical reflections to help listeners rely on the God who stands ready to comfort and support his people. Whether it’s cultivating a sense of gratitude, resisting the temptation to watch television 24/7, or looking for ways to serve those around them, this book encourages those who are sick to fight for faith in the midst of their illness.

I am in the easy part of my medical journey, having been diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor and knowing that I am in God's hands, Serving God's purpose. Knowing this is a blessing that bars fear at the door. No physical pain yet. It seems presently like it is harder on my family members and work colleagues because of my knowledge that I have been called to serve a purpose greater than me. Gen. 50:20. Not sure what the purposes are, but "Here I am Lord."

I know there are bigger challenges ahead as I have seen and known people who have died from cancer and held the hand of one of them as she passed.

Reading/listening to this book will prepare me for the calling to which I have been called to with brain surgery for what looks like cancer. Issaiah 41:10 and the other promises of God shared from the Bible in this book--I will type may of them out to o refer to and meditate on when the pain may be too great to think.

It is helpful to know the specific challenges I may likely face to be able to meet them with the Grace only God and provide.

To be following God's will and know that you are following His will is truly a blessing that will bring other blessings. Gen 22:1.
