At a loss for words

I do not know what to say except holy terror and yes it could happen This has chilled me even though I’ve known demons large and smal and understand depravity has no age and the masses move as one without so much as a thought of questioning or ceasing, even though all of that is true, I like Barbara cannot believe it

This could've been better. This was pretty dull and boring for the most part. I expected more tension and it was predictable af

It’s ok

This is an interesting well written book about how we deal with violence and the minds of others. Unfortunately, it can’t stop getting in its own way. The writing is good, the characters have interesting progression, but certain choices the writer makes lessen these traits. At times children dealing with mental illness are written in a subtle but intense way. The author will then lessen this by bringing up how one kid likes feet as if that’s scary. The main character is well written, to the point I at first thought this book was written by a woman, but all this is undercut by impulsive and indulgent writing about rape that reads like the author knows he’s in the wrong but just can’t help himself. At one point he uses the main character to go on a rather lengthy discussion of how bad abortion is that I found out of place and frankly very boring. All of this would have been tolerable due to the age of the book if not for the fact the ending is dull as dirt. I get finding it enraging or unsatisfying morally, but frankly I was just bored by it. I didn’t need some big action scene, but by the end the author himself seems almost disinterested in the story. In the end it’s a book that while compelling, leaves you with a go nowhere ending and an author that seems more disgusted by fetish material than sexual assault. It’s short, so read it if you’re bored, but don’t expect some create work

Horrifying story tastefully done. More of a character driven think piece, than a splatter gore offering.

Dark, interesting, but not scary.

The author does an amazing job of diving into the minds of each character. They all seem so real and that's what makes it such a f***** up story. However, the ending left me unsatisfied and I can't really complain about why without spoiling it. I don't regret listening to the audiobook but now that I've finished it I'm sitting in my car frustrated with the author.
