Today, building wealth isn't just about working harder or what you choose to invest in. There's not much you can count on. But there is one thing you can count on - the ability to spend what you do have smarter. In this enlightening new program, award-winning Tribune Company personal finance columnist Greg Karp shows how to do just that. Never has it been more important to learn exactly where your money is going and how to keep track of it. Every bit counts, and Greg will show you a sound financial plan, and, believe it or not, you'll even have some fun along the way. In the big stuff and the little stuff, you'll be able to save the green stuff! Greg's techniques are not about depriving yourself. They don't teach you to become a tightwad or penny pincher. Your family won't get infuriated at your newfound "thriftiness". Instead, Greg shows how to build real, long-lasting wealth by plugging the money leaks you're barely aware of and making sure you spend with a purpose. Spend less on gifts without becoming a cheapskate... slash your phone bill... pay less for food and still eat what you want... eliminate spending leaks in insurance, education, even entertainment. From learning how to save on inkjet cartridges to the truth about extended warranties, Living Rich by Spending Smart is filled with countless resources to help you and your family get ahead in the money game. In Living Rich by Spending Smart, you'll learn:

  • How to become financially secure without gimmicks or deprivation.
  • How to spend with a purpose and shut off the financial leaks that are costing you a fortune.
  • Specific, painless ways to save on countless items you use every day.
  • How you can still build wealth even in economic downturns.

Greg doesn't give just advice, he gives you a plan that you can stick with not only to survive, but to thrive in any economy.

Outdated - talks about cellular minutes and how to reduce them to save money…. Common sense - use tap water instead of bottled water…. A few good resources - for term life insurance; however, The Bogleheads' Guide to Retirement Planning covers this in better detail with more resources. A quick google search can give you more information than this book can offer.
