From the bestselling, acclaimed author of Tully and The Bronze Horseman comes the unforgettable love story between a college-bound young woman and a traveling troubadour on his way to war—a moving, compelling novel of love lost and found set against the stunning backdrop of Eastern Europe.

Chloe is just weeks away from heading off to college and starting a new life far from her home in Maine when she embarks on a great European adventure with her boyfriend and two best friends. Their destination is Barcelona, but first they must detour through the historic cities of Eastern Europe to keep an old family promise.

Here, in this fledgling post-Communist world, Chloe meets a charming American vagabond named Johnny, who carries a guitar, an easy smile—and a lifetime of secrets. From Treblinka to Trieste, from Karnikava to Krakow, from Vilnius to Venice, the unlikely band of friends and lovers traverse the old world on a train trip that becomes a treacherous journey into Europe’s and Johnny’s darkest past—a journey that jeopardizes Chloe’s plans for the future and all she ever thought she wanted.

But the lifelong bonds Chloe and her friends share are about to be put to the ultimate test—and whether or not they reach Barcelona, they can only be certain that their lives will never be the same again.

A sweeping, beautiful tale that mesmerizes and enchants, Lone Star will linger long in the memory once the final page is turned.

I absolutely loved this novel. I had a hard time putting it down until finished.

A real romance

I could not put the book down; was so real! I felt like a teenager again traveling thru Europe with my observations, my comments, my discoveries. It was so very real, with the descriptions of youth hostels and trains, and drunk parties in Poland. It was like deja vu. And so much actual pieces of information about the WW2 and extermination camps. I am from Poland, and although I knew already so much, I still learned more. Oh, how Paullina Simons NEVER disappoints with twists and turns and a heartbreaking love story, and of course an unpredictable end! I LOVE THIS BOOK, because it’s incredibly authentic on so many levels. And you know what, this is a continuation to The Bronze Horseman, Tatiana and Alexander, and The Summer Garden. This story will live within me for a long time…

Phenomenal!

I am a huge Paullina Simons fan and Lone Star did not disappoint. I have read all her books and so downloaded it without reading any reviews. I am glad I didn't read any spoilers so the ending was unexpected, but Paullina left hints all the way through which I missed on first reading. As with any Paullina Simons book, there is so much more to the story than just the words on a page, so I won't re-tell the story here .. you need to read it for yourself.

I am so thrilled that Paullina's books are now being produced in audio format. I hope there is more to come.

slow start, but it is couldn't wait to find out how it would I'm unfold and how it would end.
although...if you are a bronze horseman trilogy fan...there is a discrepancy regarding our dark figure. I won't give anything away, but go back to the 3rd book at the end and compare. Oh well...i still really enjoyed this story!

Another great one!

Five rising falling shooting stars! Bravo Paullina Simons, BRAVO! I love the ties to TBH trilogy (my favorite three books of all time). I sobbed at the end when Chloe visited Arizona- just the street names alone set the stage for what was to come. The ending made me smile. I love Blake!
