Life has a funny way of revealing harsh truths.

Cassie Carl believes she has it all. On the cusp of achieving her professional goals and soon to marry the man of her dreams - the handsome, kind, and loving Stefan Van Allen - it seems she's found the life every woman dreams of.

What else could a girl want?

Peyton Kingston is a beautiful, talented interior designer on the rise, whose sole focus is building her business. She loves what she does and has little time or patience for relationships. She's happy with her life.

What else could a girl need?

When Cassie's wealthy fiancé brings Peyton in to do a renovation on their home before the big engagement party, sparks fly, leaving both Cassie and Peyton to question everything they thought they already had.

What happens when the thin veil of perfection becomes riddled with holes?

Contains mature themes.

Story line seemed decent. But the narration was horrible and it pretty much put me to sleep.

Narration killed it

Gabra Zackman is wonderful. In comparison, Alexandra Shawnee’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard. This audio would have been much better with just one narrator.

One good narrator, one awful narrator

The poor performance of the second narrator was so distracting, I lost half the story during the listen. She sounded like she was reading a children’s book the entire time in a fake, overly energetic state. Narration seemed like she was only reading to get words out, with no acknowledgment to what emotions lay behind the words.
I wish audio publisher would redo this one with someone else or only use the first narrator.

Dual narration detracts

I did not like the narrator for Peyton, otherwise good story. Make me laugh a couple of times.

Great the story 👏

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This author obviously loves bourbon and drinking in general. It seemed a bit overemphasized in my opinion. Generally, the story went well but I found the uneven performances a bit jarring - one voice is low and sultry, and the other sound rather chirpy. I don't see these two voices getting together.

Would you be willing to try another book from S.W. Andersen? Why or why not?

Sure, I'd give this author another shot.

Which scene was your favorite?

The scene when they get caught in the rain - sexy and funny.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Yes, probably.

Too much bourbon, uneven performance
