I loved this second chance romance that weaves the tale about how three broken people navigate their fears and struggles, bridging them together through healing, forgiveness, hope and love. This story captured my heart, and I became completely invested in Cleo, Eddie, and Barrett, and how they would find their way back to each other and to their HEA! I loved how their story began after Eddie and Barrett rescue Cleo from an abusive relationship. Their story is then told in past and present sequence revealing their beginning, their heartbreaking middle, and their fight for each other to be stronger and become whole together. Eddie is the protective one who rescues and needs to fix things. He first rescues Barrett, the more sensitive, romantic artist and they eventually fall in love. When they meet Cleo, she fit with them so perfectly, but she was young and off limits. When she left, they all fell apart. Now they must fight to make Cleo safe, and so they can finally find their way back to each other. Their complex journey isn't easy, and their unconventional union is a rollercoaster ride that is at times, raw and painful, but fun, hopeful and passionate as well. This story proves that love has no limits and bounds but is beautiful and pure in all its manifest glory. I also loved seeing a certain security character from past stories and it made my heart so happy! Burgoa's writing style is so beautiful, lyrical, and alluring, and I love getting lost in her stories. She takes us on an exhilarating journey that will leave you raw and breathless and totally satisfied.
The narration by Jason Clarke, Lance West, and Vivianne Larue was outstanding. They took on these complex characters so intimately with their voice, tone, and disposition, making me see them so clearly, and feel all the angst, heartbreak, and passion they felt. I was completely captivated by their passionate and poignant performance.

What a story for Eddie, Barret and Cleo. Clearly I should have started with the first in this series to get the full impact, but even without the narrators did an amazing job bringing the story to life. It’s one full of danger, drama, intrigue, learning to love yourself and a whole lot of chemistry as these three fight back against an evil that threatened their future together. Now to go back and start with (Not so) Simple Lyrics where their story began.

Danger, drama, intrigue and some serious chemistry

Great selection of narrators. I enjoyed the story but felt there was too much backstory missing- what caused them to break up the first time, more details w Dorian and the abuse, escape, etc. I expected Dorian to fight back more, to somehow jump back into her life if only temporarily. Seemed like u glossed over previous relationship issues and just said all is forgiven. Too much left on the table. Didn’t need full chapters but tiny snippets would’ve give reader a better reference point.

Too much missing for me…

Claudia Burgoa writes angsty and highly emotional romance stories with complex charaters. In Lyrics Remain Unchanged, the story opens with a traumatized Cleo Wilder staying in a secret location after being rescued from a dangerous and abusive relationship. Her former lovers, Eddie Reznor and Barret Hetfield are caring for her as she tries to cope from her ordeal. Eddie and Barret are also working on their own relationship at the same time. I didn't read the first story in this series so I don't know if this throuple's history was first mentioned there and ultimately what broke them apart.
The story is told from each of the main character's points of view so some history is shared through flashbacks/memories as they move toward their new normal. Each character turns introspective about him/herself individually and the role they each play within their threesome.
I loved the patience, compassion and space Eddie and Barret gave Cleo as she worked through all the emotional turmoil she's recently gone through. Narrator Jason Clark gave voice to a "restrained" Eddie who had to fight against his need to control everything to protect his loved ones. Lance West brought the right level of moodiness and angst to musician, Barret, and Vivienne LaRue portrayed Cleo as she worked through her trauma to learn how to trust herself and others again. These three voice actors added another layer of emotional depth to this already powerful story.
