Crown Prince Aven Lanuken wants something more than a trophy for a future wife. He wants a woman who will be more friend than follower. A queen who will be more warrior than diplomat. He wants a partner he can trust...with a dangerous secret that's kept him trapped in a dark mountain fortress his entire life.

Mage slave Miara wants something more, too - to find an enemy prince. And not to marry him. She's just received orders for her very first kidnapping. She loathes the idea of it, and it's probably a suicide mission. But she has never failed a mission before and doesn't intend to start now.

Of all the women in the world, why does he have to fall for the one trying to kill him?

Magic, politics, love, and fate collide in the destinies of two people in this fantasy adventure from R. K. Thorne. For lovers of swords and sorcery with a side of romance, Mage Slave is the first novel in the Enslaved Chronicles trilogy.

I started this book on my Kindle and did not get very far. That is not against the book so much as the fact I have two toddlers who see the Kindle and the lunge for it. Most of my reading is listening now and this audio book came out later than the kindle version. My only complaint is that I hope we do not have to wait as long for book 2 in the series to be available on audible! Or maybe I am going to have to lock myself in a room to read it because I loved this book!

Aven and Miara were likeable and believable as characters as was their romance. But what I really loved was the fresh way Thorne had them overcome the obstacles in their way. I dont want to write out any spoilers, but if you like romantic fantasy you are doing a serious disservice to yourself by not reading this!

Loved it

It sounded like the narration was almost computerized, I nearly quit a few times to just read it. The story is decent but its hard to get used to the narrator. Ill get the next one but not sure if Ill have the patience this time to make it through.

good story, bad narration

Thoroughly enjoyable read. Lots of adventure, character growth, suspense and romance. Cannot wait to read book two and continue with the intrigue, adventure, coming war and, of course, the growing affection between Miara and Aven.

The audible version is also very well done and brings the characters alive.

Great Story. Can’t wait for more!

Really predictable and more of a romance novel then a fantasy novel. Not something I would recommend but ok if you need to waste some time.
