Mystery matchmakers strike again in the town of Bethany Springs

Elizabeth comes to Texas to care for an orphaned girl abandoned by her mother. The child has never known a mother’s touch. While Elizabeth isn’t her mother, she knows how to care for children. She’s a governess, after all. A famous one, at that!

According to the letters sent to the matchmaking firm, the plan is for Elizabeth to marry the child’s father. On arrival to Texas, however, Elizabeth discovers that the father has vanished. The little girl is being cared for by her Uncle Dalton, a wealthy, surly rancher.

Right off, Elizabeth is sure Dalton Ford is the most unfriendly curmudgeon she’s ever met. But for now, she must find a way to get along with the grumpy rancher.

As the days pass and Elizabeth awaits the return of her husband-to-be, she finds more surprises. The biggest and most outrageous of all is that her husband-to-be might not know anything about the letters he supposedly wrote.

This was a good story to listen to and had a loving ending. The characters were all interesting and it was sweet to see Dalton fall in love with Elizabeth and also adopt Tabitha.

It was a bit slow and at times didn’t keep my interest. Love that God entered into the dialog.

Did not like the virtual reading. Little emotion and would stop in middle of sentences. But it was a nice story

artificial voice takes away from the story. I finished the entire book, but think I could have enjoyed storyline more if I read it myself, or if it were read by a live narrator.
